The Artist
The Artist
I took a detour when I returned to New Mexico the second time. The desert changes a person. Everything I did before and everything I do now influences my art. My subject matter, composition, color and line all speaks to the nature of my art and life. I studied art in California , New York and New Mexico . I received my MFA from Columbia University in New York City where I studied art and business . This I achieved after growing up on welfare in a working class family. I hope to inspire young artists through art and mentorships as well as portray a sense of hope in my art.
I am currently an artist in residence at La Fonda Hotel and Kakawa Chocolate House..15 years.
Nature has been an inspiration for me with all its beauty, color and sacred geometry.
Human nature has also inspired me with all its complexities, joys and sorrows.
The above photo is from one of several trips to Peru. It is a place so beautiful, like New Mexico, it always makes me cry.
